"The Court of Cassation, judging the appeal presented by the accused to be inadmissible, made definitive the sentence against Armando Spada for attempted private violence against the journalist Federica Angeli".

"On May 23, 2013 - recalls the union of journalists - Spada threatened the death of the reporter of the Republic, in order to prevent her from carrying out a report on criminal infiltration in the management of the bathing establishments of Ostia. Also because of this episode, from ten years Federica Angeli is forced to live under guard".
The defendant was sentenced to one year's imprisonment, to pay the costs of the proceedings and compensation for the damages caused, as well as to his colleague, to the National Federation of the Italian Press and to the National Council of the Order of Journalists, who formed a civil party, represented before the Supreme Court by the lawyer Giulio Vasaturo.

"The pronouncement of the Cassation - they continue - also reaffirms the full legitimacy of the Fnsi as the guarantor, also in the procedural field, of the journalistic work that is increasingly jeopardized by the clans operating in the territories. The union will continue to support, with every means and in every location, the commitment of colleagues who are on the front line in the lands of the mafia, so that none of them should ever feel alone in the presence of the criminal powers that would like to reduce them to silence".
