(ANSA) - NEW YORK, MARCH 10 - Sales of vinyl records exceed those of CDs for the first time since 1987. This is what emerges from data from the Recording Industry Association of America, according to which 41 million albums were sold in 2022 vinyl compared to 33 million CDs.
The renaissance of vinyl has been underway for years, with the new generation convinced of their better sound quality and attracted by an object that appears to be a collector's item.
Revenue from vinyl record sales rose 17 percent last year to $1.2 billion, the WallStreet Journal reports, in what was the 16th consecutive year of growth.
