(ANSA) - PARIS, MARCH 10 - French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak have announced a new detention center for illegal migrants in northern France, as part of new initiatives to deal with the phenomenon of irregular crossings of the Channel.
"We - Sunak said in the joint press conference following the summit - are announcing a new detention center in the north of France, a new command center which will bring together our teams for the first time and 500 new agents who will patrol the French beaches".
Among other initiatives of the device, new drones and surveillance technologies "to increase the level of interception," added Sunak.
