The plane weighs too much, the wind is strong and to take off you need to lighten it, so seven passengers are asked to get off in exchange for a 250 euro voucher.
This happened yesterday on an Ita Airways flight from London City airport to Milan Linate.
"The event depended on the weather conditions in the English capital, which were already critical from the beginning of the day due to strong winds and rain, and which led to additional operational limitations on the only runway of the airport that became usable", said Ita Airways in a Note.
"When all customers had already boarded right on time, Local Air Traffic Control reported a significant change in wind direction and intensity forcing the crew to change take-off direction, which resulted in a maximum weight limitation about 700kg at take-off," the company explained.
Therefore, after disembarking the "few bags" in the hold, Ita "had to disembark 7 customers, on a voluntary basis".
On the flight, operated by German Airways, there were some Italian journalists and AC Milan fans returning to Milan after the Champions League match with Tottenham.
The whole scene was filmed by mobile phones and posted on the internet.
