(ANSA) - PIOMBINO (LIVORNO), 11 MAR - The demonstration has started in Piombino (Livorno), organized by the NoRigass No LNG network and by the creators of the campaign "For the climate, out of the fossil. Parading in a heterogeneous and colorful procession beyond a thousand people, but the number is steadily increasing as the minutes go by: it ranges from committees and associations from various parts of Italy interested in projects related to fossils. In the procession are also numerous delegations from environmental associations, trade unions, especially grassroots ones with USB and Cobas, and students. And again, various forces of the left, from the PRC with the national secretary Maurizio Acerbo, to the Italian Left to Potere al Popolo and the CARC, and also the M5s. Also waving a banner of the Anarchist Federation. And then simple citizens and some families with children.

Some businesses display banners against the LNG terminal.

As the demonstrators passed, many slogans against the Piombino regasification terminal and fossil energies, also targeted the president of the Tuscany Region Eugenio Giani and the government with the premier Meloni who is accused of having no interest in the environment and people's health.

The procession will pass through the city center to reach piazza Bovio where the organizers explain that the Fdi mayor of Piombino Francesco Ferrari is also expected.

The presence of the forces of order was numerous but discreet: at the moment there are no signs of tension.
