Heat wave in Buenos Aires: red alert for high temperatures and the forecast for the week pending relief

Specifically, the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA), La Plata and several municipalities in the Buenos Aires suburbs, and districts of Entre Ríos and Corrientes continue under

red alert due to "very dangerous" extreme temperatures,

Due to the intensity of the heat that has not ceased for more than a week, the SMN kept the "red alert" active for CABA and the Buenos Aires cities of La Plata, Berisso, Ensenada, Brandsen, Cañuelas, Magdalena, San Vicente, Esteban Echeverría, Ezeiza, La Matanza and Merlo.

Similarly, in the southern zone of Greater Buenos Aires the affected areas are Almirante Brown, Avellaneda, Berazategui, Florencia Varela, Lanús, Lomas de Zamora, Presidente Perón and Quilmes.

orange alert for the northeast of the province of Buenos Aires

in towns such as Tigre, San Isidro, Campana and Zárate, a large part of Entre Ríos and a large part of Corrientes.

The same warning is valid for the south of Santa Fe, northeast and northwest of Córdoba and northeast of San Luis,

In addition, the rest of Entre Ríos, all of Tucumán, Córdoba and Santa Fe, the southeast of Santiago del Estero, and the northwest, center and coast of the province of Buenos Aires are under a yellow alert due to temperatures that have a "

Given the high temperatures that have been recorded for days, the Ministry of Health reiterated

a series of recommendations

for the population such as using sunscreen, hydrating, drinking water even when you do not feel thirsty, wearing loose clothing, avoiding sun exposure, wearing a hat , consume fruits and vegetables, and avoid intense physical activity.

Yesterday for the first time in its history, CABA exceeded the maximum heat wave temperature threshold (32.3 °C) for 12 consecutive days.

The previous record was from 2017 with 11 days.

In addition,

at 2:00 p.m. it registered a temperature of 38.6, the highest for March since 1906,

and it was the second time in the month that it reached the absolute record for March, since on the 2nd it registered 38°.

According to the forecast prepared by the SMN,

On Monday it will have maximum temperatures close to 36 degrees, while on Tuesday it drops to 35 but with a possibility of isolated storms that help cool down.

Wednesday the stormy forecast continues, although with a maximum of 32. On Thursday it is expected to drop a little more, to 30.

Only next Saturday the values ​​will be somewhat calmer
