Dogs are man's best friend, at least that's what people like to say.
It has now been proven again by a Rottweiler who saved his owner from the most poisonous snake in the world, a black mamba.
Josh Billings, an early 19th-century American humorist, allegedly once said, "The dog is the only creature on earth that loves you more than it loves itself." Over time, it became "the best friend of man” and a dictum.
But not without a grain of truth, because again and again one hears of dogs that save their owners' lives in some way.
Like the dog Max, who helps his owner in a difficult situation, or the sled dog North, who keeps a mountaineer warm for 13 hours.
A similar example recently took place near the east coast of South Africa.

Nick Evans, the snake rescuer, is called whenever one of the reptiles dares to get too close to humans.
A few days ago, he shared an experience on his
profile that surprised him positively.
For example, he wrote: "A man from Escombe, Queensburgh, thought it was very strange that his Rottweiler wouldn't let him on the couch he usually sits on every afternoon." According to Evans, it was like this for two days, then the man discovered that his dog was also barking at the back of the sofa.
When the dog owner moved the couch out of curiosity, he could hardly believe his eyes: a black mamba, the most venomous snake in the world, had made itself comfortable behind the sofa.

Then came a dangerous moment, in which the owner reacted excellently, Evans continued: "When the snake became visible, the Rottweiler wanted to attack this threat immediately." And the dog probably would not have survived this attack.
Because the black mamba is already a very nervous and easily irritable animal and has a lot of poison in its teeth.
About 15 to 20 milligrams can be fatal in an adult human - and this snake distributes up to 400 milligrams per bite.

In return, the owner protected his dog, grabbed his collar and pulled him away from the mamba.
Only then did he contact Nick Evans, who was supposed to take care of the poisonous snake.
"I was very impressed by this prudent behavior - especially in this fearful situation," Evans wrote.
Probably a rarity and therefore worth mentioning.
It would be more common for the owners to call Evans while a dog is harassing the line.
Often a death sentence - maybe also for the snake, but certainly for the dog.

In this case, according to Evans, everything went smoothly.
With the help of a colleague, he was able to capture the black mamba, which was a good 2.20 meters long: a happy ending for everyone involved.
He concluded: "It was nice to see how much the family loves the dog and how he loves him back.
To warn its owner of the danger in this way... impressive!” The Facebook community is also enthusiastic.
