(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 13 - More than 30 people were killed in a monastery in the Burmese state of Shan in an attack by the military junta.
This was reported by the BBC citing the militia of the Karenni rebels.
According to reports, the army's air force and artillery bombed the village of Nan Nein in the south on Saturday and then executed the inhabitants who had hidden inside a monastery.
The toll at the moment is 30 dead, including 3 monks.
A video from rebel militia shows at least 20 bodies, some wearing the orange robes of Buddhist monks, massed against the monastery.
The bodies had what appear to be multiple gunshot wounds and the video also shows the walls of the monastery full of bullet holes.
Some surrounding buildings and houses were also burned in what the Karenni rebel militia said was the military's attack on the village.
