As is tradition, the

Tripadvisor travel platform

, which gathers opinions and comments from millions of travelers -more than a billion reviews-, announced the

best beaches for 2023

.

After launching the world's best destinations 2023 last January - part of its annual Travelers' Choice awards - now it's the turn of the beaches.

To define the list, Tripadvisor analyzed tens of millions of opinions submitted by travelers from around the world during the last 12 months.

And with these

qualifications of experiences,

the list of the favorite beaches for travelers was prepared, which covers all the continents.

The choices are based on the opinions of the users.

Diversity is the mark that identifies the 2023 list, since both the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean and the cliffs and black sands of Iceland appear in the ranking.

"As a huge fan of the beach, I know the

irresistible allure of sunshine and turquoise water

, and there's plenty of that on this year's list," said Sarah Firshein, Editorial Director of Tripadvisor.

"But there are also

some delicious surprises

. In addition to the beloved beaches of Hawaii, the Caribbean and continental Europe, our community seeks to enhance their cliff-hugging experiences at Cannon Beach, on the Oregon coast of the western United States and destinations beyond. as fresh as Reynisfjara beach in Iceland," added Firshein, who boasted that with this list he "could convince even the most skeptical to embrace the sand for a while."

The beaches chosen for 2023

1. Baia do Sancho (Fernando de Noronha, Brazil)

In the Atlantic Ocean and part of the state of Pernambuco, Noronha is a volcanic island that constitutes a protected area, with a quota of daily visitors that bets on its preservation.

Off the beaten track,

Baia de Sancho

is not only famous for its perfect turquoise waters and white sand beach, but also for its exotic variety of wildlife.

It obtained first place as the best beach on several occasions.

Those who venture into its crystal clear waters flanked by green cliffs can see sea turtles, rays, dolphins and even reef sharks.

2. Eagle Beach (Aruba)

Eagle Beach in Aruba, was chosen as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

"Best beach in Aruba! Not too crowded, white sand and water colors to die for. I went to most of them and this one wins."

said one user about the widest and most famous beach in Aruba, in the Caribbean.

With soft white sand, it offers a great view of the sea, good parking space, shaded areas, some beach cabanas and a wide variety of water sports.

In addition, there are two of the most photographed and recognized fofoti trees on the island, with their characteristic leaning silhouette, pointing towards the Caribbean.

On the official website of Aruba they add one more piece of information: there are four species of sea turtles that nest in Aruba;

most turtle nests are located on Eagle Beach.

3. Cable Beach (Broome, Australia)

"Cable Beach is an iconic spot in Broome and with pristine white sand stretching for many miles," one user notes, continuing: "It is popular with locals and tourists alike who can enjoy a variety of activities. It is a perfect spot to relax, the sunsets are very special too."

The beach is located in the north-west of

Australia

, on the Indian Ocean.

To take into account: from November to June you cannot swim due to the arrival of dangerous jellyfish

4. Reynisfjara Beach (Vik, Iceland)

Nice to see: Reynisfjara Beach, Iceland.

One of the surprises on the list: the spectacular Reynisfjara beach in Vik, Iceland.

With its world famous

black sands

and towering rock formations towering over the coastline, some may recognize some of the settings from Game of Thrones.

Additionally, Reynisfjara Beach is popular with bird watchers for the various types of seabirds seen nearby, including puffins.

To take into account: it is a beautiful beach to observe and enjoy the landscape, not to bathe: it has

waves of up to 40 meters and icy waters

.

5. Grace Bay Beach (Turks & Caicos)

"It's almost unreal when you're there and you see the white sand and how blue the water is. The sand feels like flour, it's so soft, and the water is a bit salty and clean," a Tripadvisor user commented on this beach which usually appears among the most prominent.

The beach is located in the northeast of Providenciales Island.

A large barrier reef 1 mile away protects Grace Bay from the strongest swells in the Atlantic Ocean, keeping the water calm at the beach.

On the official site they clarify that although it is usually read that Grace Bay is 19 km long, in reality it is only almost 5 km.

And the name is due to Grace Jane Hutchings, wife of Hugh Houston Hutchings, commissioner of the Turks and Caicos Islands from 1933 to 1934.

The sunsets here are spectacular.

6. Praia da Falésia (Olhos de Agua, Portugal)

"This is a stunning-looking beach... the sun reflects off the sands of different shades of orange and yellow on the high cliffs," describes a traveler from the Tripadvisor community about this 8-kilometre beach in the Algarve region and extends between Olhos de Agua and Vilamoura.

Golden sands, clean waters -sometimes strong waves- and its orange cliffs are its main characteristics, in addition to the natural environment that surrounds it.

7. Radhanagar Beach (Havelock Island, India)

One of the most beautiful beaches in Asia and a magnet for tourism, which should be visited between October and February.

A tropical forest surrounds Radhanagar.

In addition to enjoying the views and the tropical vegetation that surrounds it, travelers can practice water sports such as sailing, parasailing and diving.

And among the services to spend the day there are rental chairs and umbrellas, as well as stalls that offer food and drinks.

8. Spiaggia dei Conigli (Sicily, Italy)

Rabbits beach, on the island of Lampedusa, has shallow waters.

Part of its fame is due to its colorful marine life and for being the place where the Caretta Caretta turtles (loggerhead turtles) lay their eggs, something that usually happens at the end of August: at that time it is closed to the public to preserve the fauna.

Since 1995, this beach is part of the Lampedusa Oriented Nature Reserve, and activities such as sailing and diving are prohibited.

This beach can be reached after a twenty-minute walk.

Keep in mind that being within a protected area, the beach remains open to tourism from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Although there is a colony of rabbits to which the name could be due, an 1824 letter from British Admiral William Smith already referred to it as "Rabit Island".

Later, the name was incorrectly translated from English (

rabbit

), although in fact the reference is believed to be to the Arabic word

rabit

, which refers to the isthmus that occasionally forms between the islet and the beach.

To take into account: there are no services on the beach, just a small picnic area along the route.

The bathrooms are at the beginning of the descent.

It is advisable to visit it when the mistral wind (from the northwest) blows and the sea is clearer and calmer.

If there is a sirocco (from the southeast), the water is agitated by the currents and looks more cloudy.

9. Varadero (Cuba)

The most famous of Cuba's beaches, Varadero, is 140 km from Havana.

It has 21 km of beach with resorts for all tastes.

It stands out for its transparent waters and white sands, warm climate and nature around.

It is an ideal area for nautical activity and offers an attractive nightlife

10. Ka'anapali Beach (Maui, Hawaii, United States)

"This is such a beautiful beach...plenty of sand and grass to sit on and great snorkelling. Fish and turtles abound...feels really safe going far. Watching the whales jump in the distance is a wonderful way to relax."

With 3 miles of white sand beaches and crystal clear waters, Kaanapali was Hawaii's first planned resort.

Kaanapali also has two golf courses and one of its most famous attractions is the cliff diving ceremony at the north end of the beach known as Puu Kekaa or Black Rock.

Diving can be seen every day at sunset: the diver lights the torches around the cliff and launches from Black Rock.
