The Minister of Construction and Housing, Yitzhak Goldknopf, today (Tuesday) held a professional work tour in the Galilee and the Golan Heights together with the CEO of the Ministry, Yehuda Morgenstern, the CEO of RMI, Yaakov Quint, the regional managers of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and RMI and the head of the council Golan Regional Chaim Rokah.

The minister began the visit at the new settlement 'Ramat Trump' established in the Golan Mountains by the previous Netanyahu government as a tribute to the US President, Donald Trump, for his public recognition of Israeli sovereignty in the Golan Heights.

In the settlement, the Minister of Housing laid the cornerstone for the first house out of about a hundred houses that are expected to be built there in the initial phase.

The head of the council presented to the minister his vision for expanding 'Ramat Trump' and taking in hundreds of new families who wish to join the new communal settlement.

He explained that increasing settlement and expanding development in a significant way in the Golan Heights is a strategic task in view of the fact that only twenty thousand residents live in the Golan Regional Council today.

Minister Goldknopf replied that he shares this position and that "the settlement in the Golan Heights strengthens our hold on this land."

Also, Minister Goldknopf said that he will work to help increase and strengthen the settlement there.

The minister and the head of the council continued to the area where the new settlement 'Matar' will be built, the fourth settlement established since the beginning of the term of office of the current Minister of Construction and Housing, whose establishment is expected to be approved by a government decision soon, and is expected to house about two thousand families.

During the tour, the minister informed the head of the council that he is examining, together with a professional team from the ministry, the establishment of a first rural settlement with an ultra-orthodox character.

The obvious location is above the 'Emek Hula' near the Galilean city of Hazor, with the model being the same as the settlement 'Kommiot'.

The tour ended at the ancient synagogue in Ein Kashtot, which was built during the Mishna period and was discovered in the south of the Golan Heights near Moshav Netor.

The ancient synagogue is one of the most magnificent and important from this period found in the Land of Israel.
