The act of liberation from slavery of Caterina, Leonardo's mother, signed by the notary Piero da Vinci, was found in the State Archives of Florence.
Carlo Vecce made it known, presenting his book 'Catherine's smile'.
For some years, he explained, he had been circulating the hypothesis that Caterina could be a slave.
"A bit by chance, a few years ago, these documents came out, I started studying them to prove that this slave Caterina was not Leonardo's mother, but in the end all the evidence went in the opposite direction, especially this liberation document ".
"The notary who frees Caterina is the same person who loved her when she was still a slave and from whom she had this child", that is Leonardo, Vecce explained again who initially did not believe that the mother of the genius could be a slave.
