Kassel - The control standards in food production are high.

Nevertheless, it happens from time to time that manufacturers have to recall their food.

Regular food inspections uncover product defects.

A conventional product such as cheese from the discounter can also be affected.

Now there is a warning about a kebab spice mixture.

Consumers should be careful as a dangerous toxin has been found in the product.

Consumers who own the product should definitely check the best before date (BBD).

The spice is being recalled with the MHD October 25, 2025. The reason is the detection of 2-chloroethanol, as the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety informs.

Fumigation with ethylene oxide is prohibited in Germany.

The association warns that both substances can be highly toxic and mutagenic.

In some third countries, however, this method is permitted.

In the past, mere contact with 2-chloroethanol caused death several times when it was absorbed through the skin.

The product should therefore not be distorted.
