The authors and editors of Cedro's board of directors have agreed to award the writer, RAE academic and columnist Antonio Muñoz Molina with the Cedro 2023 Award for his defense of copyright, of the creator's work and for his constant militancy in favor of of a sustainable culture.
“We wanted to highlight that for him the defense of intellectual property and diverse culture have been constants in his life.
He has not only claimed it in his journalistic columns, but also went to the Congress of Deputies at the time to defend the need to adequately protect culture and copyright ”, explained Daniel Fernández, the president of the association.
The award will be presented on April 26, a date that coincides with World Intellectual Property Day.

Muñoz Molina was born in Úbeda (Jaén) and is 67 years old.

Since 1995 he is a member of the Royal Spanish Academy.
He lives between Madrid and Lisbon.

It currently has 31,916 writers, translators, journalists and publishers from our country as members.
The Cedro Award recognizes annually, since 2017 and in a symbolic way, the trajectory of a person or institution that stands out for defending culture in general and copyright in particular.
In recent years it has been received by Lorenzo Silva (2017), Julia Navarro (2018), Pepa Fernández (2019), Rosa Montero (2020), José María Merino (2021) and four writers in 2022 (Eduardo Maura, Emilio del Río, Marta Rivera de la Cruz and José Andrés Torres Mora).
