Even listening to certain sounds related to food, starting with breakfast, can make us stimulate the production of serotonin, or the good mood hormone.
This phenomenon highlighted by various scientific studies is at the heart of the "Io Comincio Bene" campaign by Unione Italiana Food which, through a Survey, wanted to find out what 'sound' the first meal in the morning has: from the crunch of cereals, to the jam spread on rusk, from the milk poured into the cup.
And for 8 out of 10 Italians, it is evoked by the muttering of coffee over the fire.
The sensory experience that leads individuals to experience well-being when faced with sound stimuli is called Autonomous Response of the Sensory Meridian.
The sound of the croissant just broken, for 8 out of 10 (81%) is the most loved, followed by the knife cutting the cake (19%).
"The energy to be taken at breakfast is slightly lower than that to be obtained from lunch and dinner. For this reason, foods rich in carbohydrates without too much fat are ideal in the morning", explains Michelangelo Giampietro, specialist in Food Science and in Sports Medicine.
For more than 6 out of 10 interviewees (64%) the "crunch" of biscuits in the morning is the 'evocative' sound par excellence and takes you back to childhood;
while more than 3 in 10 (36%) associate cereals dipping in milk with this memory.
For 16% of those interviewed, even the sound of cocoa and hazelnut cream spread on rusks is able to give them energy.
"Theine and caffeine - continues Giampietro - increase psychophysical performance, but if consumed in large quantities they stimulate diuresis and heart rate, because they are exciting", but "4 cups of moka and 5 of espresso" should not be exceeded.
For half of the sample interviewed (46%), the sound of vegetable drinks poured into the glass is the emblem of breakfast.
"Soy drinks - concludes the expert - in particular have a higher protein content, compared to oats and rice (which are cereals), because they contain a legume".
