1.7 million demonstrators took to the streets across France today on the occasion of the eighth day of mobilization against Emmanuel Macron's pension reform, according to a count carried out by the CGT union.

This is higher than the number announced at the end of the seventh day of national mobilization last Saturday, when the CGT spoke of over one million protesters, but less than the March 7 protest, when over three million were announced. of protesters across the country.

The Interior Ministry instead speaks of about 480,000 people who participated in the protest against the reform of the law desired by Emmanuel Macron.

There were moments of tension and fear in Paris when the procession, which started from the Invalides, after having passed through Monparnasse, upon arrival in front of Port Royal, started a large throwing of objects by 'black block' elements against the police 'black block', which responded with charges.

There was some movement of panic by the vast majority of peaceful protesters.

Just before the start of the Parisian demonstration, the joint joint commission (Cmp) in charge of defining a compromise on the final text to be presented to the Chambers tomorrow, voted with a majority of 10 out of 14 members on article 7 which increases from 62 to 64 years the minimum age to leave work.

"It's a shame - tweeted the member of the commission Mathilde Panot, group leader at the Assemblée Nationale de La France Insoumise - 10 parliamentarians vote behind closed doors for 2 years in prison for the entire French population".

Premier Elisabeth Borne, on the other hand, explained in a tweet that "after examination by each assembly, 7 deputies and 7 senators of different sensitivities (political, ed.) have agreed and propose a common text to preserve our pension system. Through this compromise, they are responding to the French request to

build together solutions for the country".

Macron, for his part, has summoned Prime Minister Borne and the ministers involved in the disputed pension reform to the Elysée for tonight.
