(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, MARCH 15 - Iranian activist Sepideh Gholian has been released from prison after about four years and seven months of detention.
She announced it herself on Twitter by posting a video in which she is seen shouting for joy in the street without the veil, which is mandatory in public for women in the Islamic Republic.
"This time I went out with the hope of seeing freedom in Iran," she wrote.
The 28-year-old was arrested in 2018 during a union protest and, after being released on bail, she had denounced torture and abuse suffered in prison.
In 2019 she was again incarcerated.
