Another tragedy at a water hole
In February of this year, but in San Luis, a man died when, despite not knowing how to swim, he jumped into a water hole to rescue his son, who had tripped and fallen there.
Juan Carlos Álvez, 58, was with his wife and Juan Ignacio, 27, during his first vacation in the province.
They came from Florencio Varela and toured the vicinity of the Siete Cajones River.
As reported by El Diario de La República, the victim's son fell into a pool that began to suck him in and, therefore, make it difficult for him to get out.
The Diario de San Luis reports that Juan Carlos instinctively jumped into the water when he heard his son's plea for help.
But the man's situation became more complicated, while the young man finally managed to get out of it by his own means.
Juan Ignacio was also the one who alerted the authorities, who immediately went to the scene.
Personnel from the 17th El Trapiche Police Station arrived at the scene a few minutes after the tragedy took place and found the young man and his mother in a state of shock.
The same outlet also reports that to remove Álvez's body, the authorities had to dive to about seven meters.
