Still I Rise non-profit organization nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

The non-profit organization Still I Rise has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 2023

the nomination comes from the Republic of San Marino

and was announced by the directors Sara Conti and Giuseppe Maria Morganti, former Captain Regent, during the Council meeting Grande and Generale of March 13, 2023. «Using the words of Nelson Mandela, "education is the most powerful weapon to change the world".

it guarantees free education and protection for refugee and vulnerable children», thus the councilors motivated the organization's nomination for the prestigious award.

«We are incredibly grateful to the directors Sara Conti and Giuseppe Maria Morganti, and to the entire Republic of San Marino, which we feel particularly akin in its historic independence as the "Ancient Land of Freedom".

We are a very young organization and we still have a long way to go, but this appointment is a great encouragement for all of us to do more and more and better», says Nicolò Govoni, Executive Director of Still I Rise.

«The news made the entire Still I Rise team very happy: this trust in us is a real gift for each of us.

And right now it is especially so for our colleagues at Ma'an, our school in North West Syria, who are facing the tragic anniversary of the 12th year of war as they come to terms with the aftermath of last month's devastating earthquake and with the repeated lack of attention from the international community», adds Giulia Cicoli, Advocacy Director of the organization.

For 2023, the Nobel Peace Committee has received 305 nominations, including 212 individuals and 93 organizations,

among which the shortlist will be selected.

The complete list of nominees is kept secret by the committee for 50 years, however whoever forwards the candidacy has the right to make the name of the person, body or organization public.

In 2020, the Titan had forwarded to the Nobel Peace Committee the appointment of Nicolò Govoni, Executive Director of Still I Rise.

Three years later comes the appointment of the entire organization, with which the Republic of San Marino has launched important projects over time culminating in the unanimous approval of the law for the custody of unaccompanied foreign minors to families and singles residing in San Marino.
