In Rome we will stroll through Villa Bonaparte, through whose garden in 1870 the troops of the Kingdom of Italy entered to open the "Breach of Porta Pia".

In Milan it will be possible to visit the operational spaces and recording studios of the historic Rai headquarters in Corso Sempione, built in 1939. In Naples, in Piazza del Plebiscito, Palazzo Salerno will open, headquarters of the Southern Operational Forces Command, built in 1775, with two gardens that offer a breathtaking view of the gulf.

But the spectacular openings of the Fai - Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano Spring Days on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March continue to amaze: even in the 31st edition, over 750 "gems" will be open, which will not only concern the big cities of 'art but - thanks to the tireless work of 7,500 volunteers and 15.

000 apprentice guides - 400 cities in 20 regions.

An example is the spectacular convent of Sant'Angelo, in Ocre in L'Aquila, scenically perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Aterno valley.

Or the 625 Fosse Granarie di Cerignola in the Foggia area, the last example in Capitanata of a method of preserving grain attested since 1225. And again in Sardinia the former prison La Rotunda in Tempio Pausania, active from 1847 to 2012 and characterized by the circular structure allowed for strict control of prisoners.

In short, a varied and unique offer that includes villas, churches, historic buildings, castles, museums and archaeological areas, industrial archeology buildings, art collections, libraries, civil and military buildings, workplaces and artisan workshops, and then parks , naturalistic areas, gardens and villages.

On www.giornatefai.it the complete list.

"Aristotle - says Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano - says that while all living beings have a habitat, water for fish, air for birds. The habitat of human beings is what we have built over centuries of history It is the historicism of the value of goods. Everyone has their own identity and everyone has the duty to cultivate it. And all these places that you open and make known there are stories that are identities".

And he proudly adds: "I was a great user of the Giornate del Fai and I will return to visit some of these places. I also claim the fact that I have promoted and given space to these events also as a journalist and director while not everyone has done so".

The minister then underlined how yes.

"In these 31 years of existence - says the president of Fai Marco Magnifico at the presentation at the Mic with the minister Gennaro Sangiuliano - the Fai Days have written a sort of spontaneous encyclopaedia of Italian cultural heritage which to all intents and purposes has added to that journal to narrate the immense Italian historical, artistic and landscape heritage".

Magnifico then recalled the great numbers of Fai from the first edition of 1993 to 2022: almost 12 million visitors out of 14,790 places open in 6,400 cities thanks to the work of over 150,000 volunteers and 344,560 apprentice guides.

The record attendance was in 2019, with 770,000 attendance.

Among the most curious openings, the Ikeda Cultural Center for Peace in Corsico in Milan, the largest Buddhist center in Europe, in Herculaneum the Real Vesuvius Observatory, the oldest volcanological observatory in the world, founded in 1841 and in Palermo, the Aula Bunker dell'Ucciardone, built in 1985-86 inside the prison to host the Maxiprocess.

Fai does not forget the fragility of our country: some visits will concern places affected by natural disasters, such as Vajont (a village born in the late 1960s to welcome the inhabitants of the valley affected by the tragedy, whose 60th anniversary occurs) and in the Marche Tolentino (with the grandiose complex of the Basilica of San Nicola, damaged by the earthquake of 2016) and Barbara (Ancona), in the territory of the flood of the Misa river.

The Fai Spring Days close the Rai Week dedicated to Cultural Heritage in collaboration with Fai.

From 20 to 26 March Rai will once again be at the forefront in support of Fai with all radio and television channels and through RaiPlay to create a choral story that will focus on the beauty and sustainability of our artistic and landscape heritage.
