(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 16 - "In these 31 years of existence, the Giornate del FAI have written a sort of spontaneous encyclopaedia of Italian cultural heritage which, to all intents and purposes, has been added to the official one to narrate Italy's immeasurable historical, artistic and landscape heritage" .

This was stated by FAI president Marco Magnifico at the presentation of the FAI spring days which will be held on 25 and 26 March that over 750 places (most of which are usually inaccessible or little known) will open to the public in 400 cities in 20 regions thanks to the tireless work of 7,500 volunteers and 15,000 apprentice guides.

"Aristotle says that while all living beings have a habitat, the water for fish, the air for birds. The habitat of human beings is what we have built over centuries of history. It is the historicism of the value of goods. Everyone has their own identity and everyone has the duty to cultivate it. And all these places that you open and make known are for this.

I was a great user of the Giornate del Fai and I will come back to visit some of these places. I also claim the fact of having promoted these events also as a journalist and director" says Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano.

"We preserve the memory which is collective but also personal" underlines the minister.

Magnifico then recalled the great numbers of Fai from the first edition of 1993 to 2022: almost 12 million visitors out of 14,790 places open in 6,400 cities thanks to the work of over 150,000 volunteers and 344,560 apprentice guides.

The record attendance was in 2019 with 770,000 admissions.

Among the many truly exceptional openings, Villa Bonaparte stands out in Rome: through its garden in 1870 the troops of the Kingdom of Italy opened the "Breach of Porta Pia".

In Milan Palazzo Marino, a masterpiece by the Mannerist architect Galeazzo Alessi, and also the historic Rai headquarters in Corso Sempione, built in 1939, where you will visit operational spaces and recording studios.

In Naples, in Piazza del Plebiscito, Palazzo Salerno will open, headquarters of the Southern Operational Forces Command, built in 1775. On www.giornatefai.it the complete list.
