(ANSA) - PARIS, MARCH 16 - Edf, the French energy company, has identified 320 welds believed to be at risk of failure in its nuclear power plants, and intends to start checks which should reach 90% of the plants by the end of the year.
A communication to this effect was sent to the National Nuclear Safety Authority (Asn) after the recent discovery of a serious crack in the Penly 1 reactor, in the department of Seine-Maritime (Normandy).
"The Asn takes note of this new development of the strategy and believes it is the responsibility of EDF to implement it," the Nuclear Surveillance Authority said in a statement.
