The architects claim that the Law of Arrangements seriously harms the powers of the local authorities in the activities of the planning and construction committees and therefore call on their colleagues to stop any service provision to the government

As if one big protest wasn't enough for the government, and now a new protest group is forming, this time against the settlement law.

A few days after the 15th Forum threatened the local planning committees with a strike, which will probably be implemented this Sunday, today the Association of Architects and the Union of Landscape Architects announced that they are joining the struggle.

Architect Erna Angel, chairman of the Association of Architects, and landscape architect Izzy Blank, chairman of the Association of Landscape Architects, today issued a joint statement to thousands of architects and landscape architects, union members and non-unionized architects.

In the announcement we stated that: "The Law of Arrangements, which the government is promoting these days in a predatory manner, includes a chapter on planning and construction and other chapters, which seriously harm the powers of the local authorities in the activities of the planning and construction committees, and completely ignore the recommendations of professionals in the fields of planning."

In the announcement, they state that the general feeling arising from all the unions involved in planning from the actions of the government and the Knesset is that the legislation is progressing without any reference to comments and warnings from the local government and from professional parties, including professional government officials.

"Even the comments of the most powerful officialdom in the country - the treasury officials - are dismissed outright," they write.

The letter he sent reads:

"As the chairman of the Association of Architects and in cooperation with the chairman of the Association of Landscape Architects, we find it appropriate to call on the office owners who are members of the association and union, as well as those who are not unionized, to support this important struggle and our colleagues. Our profession is the lifeblood of the planning field in Israel, but our voice is not heard and our positions are not taken into account. Therefore, it is important that our voice be heard against legislation that tramples on the dignity of our profession, and seeks to turn us into rubber stamps of self-interested politicians."

If there is indeed a strike on Sunday, the association and the union call on those who provide services to the government ministries and are involved in the projects promoted by them, not to answer on Sunday the requests of the representatives of the government ministries, "as a sign of solidarity with our fellow urban engineers, urban architects and our fellow architects and landscape architects in the local government."

"We must take a clear position and make it clear to the public representatives that in order to receive professional services from us, they will have to listen to our professional position and give it expression in the legislative work."
