Cleaning the oven is one thing above all: annoying.

But sometimes it's really necessary.

A folding function that is unknown to many people made it easier.

It always happens when you can't really use it: something drips onto the hot floor in the oven or splashes on the walls and ceiling of the interior.

When you open the oven door, you just keep your fingers crossed that the smoke detector doesn't go off this time in view of the smoke that often occurs.

And as soon as everything has cooled down in the oven, it's time to clean up the misery.

The biggest annoyance are probably the heating coils at the top of the interior.

But there is a clever trick in some ovens for exactly that.

Unknown oven function - Tip for easier cleaning

It should be said in advance: Unfortunately, not every oven has this function.

But if it is, it is very helpful when cleaning grease splashes and the like.

With some devices, the heating coil at the top, where scrubbing and wiping is otherwise always quite complicated, can simply be folded down.

With some ovens, the heating coil can simply be pulled forward a little and then folded down.

Other devices have an internal hook or similar mechanism near the heating rods that you can flip over.

The rods then fold down slightly.

Don't use violence

If you are not sure whether your oven has the folding function of the heating coil, you have three options:

1. Look in the operating instructions for the device.

2. Look inside the device (switched off) for hooks or mechanisms near the spiral.

3. Gently try to pull the heating coil towards you.

Very important: Never use force or too much force.

Not every oven has such a function and you could damage the device if you use force!

Also relatively unknown is the actual use of the drawer under the oven.

With some oven models, the guide rails on the sides can be removed and the heating coils can be folded down at the top.

This makes cleaning the oven easier.

Oven cleaning: ideally remove loose parts

The grids on the edge of the oven can usually be removed for cleaning, for example with the household remedy baking soda.

Here, too, there are different variants.

Some of the racks are properly screwed (and can be loosened and re-attached this way).

With other manufacturers, the grids can simply be unhooked or pulled out.

As with the folding function, if in doubt, a look at the operating instructions or careful testing will help - without using too much force.

By the way: Home remedies such as baking powder or vinegar also help with a dirty oven door.

Nice side effect: they are far less harmful to the environment and cheaper than the special cleaner.
