More than 90,000 users without electricity in the AMBA: another day of heat and protests from the neighbors

, mostly from Edesur, a company targeted by the Government in recent days.

At the worst hour of lack of supply, 90,100 Edesur users were without service, while Edenor's were only 1,300.

Due to service failures in the middle of the heat wave that had peaks of up to 40° of thermal sensation, thousands of residents

took to the streets to protest in different parts of the City and the suburbs,

specifically in the southern zone, where many They have been without electricity for several days.

According to the report of the National Regulatory Entity for Electricity (ENRE) at 7:00 p.m., in the Edesur concession area there were 64,778 users without electricity, especially from the towns of Avellaneda, Lanús, Lomas de Zamora, Quilmes and Ezeiza in the south of the Greater Buenos Aires.

Later, the number was increased.

In the Buenos Aires district, the neighborhoods with the greatest number of power outages this afternoon were Balvanera, Monserrat, Mataderos, Parque Patricios, Boedo, La Paternal, Flores and Caballito.

In this last neighborhood, a call was launched to residents to hold a protest, this afternoon starting at 7:00 p.m., at the corner of Acoyte and Rivadavia avenues.

Since that time, a large group has gathered in the street with pans and posters to applaud and ask that the service be restored.

The Observatory of the Right to the City, the organizing group of the mobilization, reported that they are demanding "the comprehensive renewal of the power line" and "automatic and general compensation" to those affected by the lack of light.


In Av Rivadavia and Acoyte, Caballito, the neighbors came out to complain about the lack of electricity supply.

The demonstration was replicated in the southern neighborhoods of the Buenos Aires suburbs where the inhabitants of the area also gathered at the busiest intersections of the districts to protest.

In this sense, the national government, through the ENRE, filed a criminal complaint on Thursday against the authorities of the Edesur company so that they are investigated for fraud due to the disruption of the agreed rights, abandonment of a person and hindering public services.

In addition, the Government of Buenos Aires filed another against the same company for the alleged commission of the crime of abandonment of a person with eventual intent after evaluating that the cuts in the supply of electricity that are registered in the City of Buenos Aires put "life in danger or the health of the inhabitants of the district".

The Buenos Aires Ombudsman's Office also interfered in the conflict.

This, for its part, promoted a collective lawsuit before the Buenos Aires Justice against Edesur "for the lack of dignified treatment and lack of information" towards the residents affected by the power outages for weeks, and requested that fines of between $73,000 and $308,000 approximately.

Regarding the concession area of ​​the Edenor company, the total number of users without electricity this afternoon totaled 8,674, of which the majority are located in the Buenos Aires municipalities of Hurlingham, Moreno, Caseros, Ciudadela, Ramos Mejía, San Justo, San Miguel and Olivos, as indicated in the ENRE report.
