(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 18 - Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, under investigation for corruption and arrested, is on his way to the capital Islamabad, where he has been summoned by a judge, because his arrest warrant is been suspended by the High Court on condition that he presents himself to the judge voluntarily.

Immediately after his departure, the police carried out a raid to search his home in Lahore, where until this morning he was barricaded, "protected" by his supporters who clashed for days with the agents.

Al Jazeera writes it.

To gain access to Khan's villa, the police had to wade through the supporters of the former prime minister and former cricket champion with batons.

The arrest warrant was issued by a court in Islamabad as a result of Khan's failure to appear, summoned to answer charges by the Election Commission that he had received undeclared gifts as prime minister between 2018 and 2022 and profited from them by selling them.

Khan denies the charges and says they are politically motivated charges aimed at preventing him from standing in next year's elections.
