The gross median salary is considered more accurate because it is the value that is exactly in the middle of all values. This means that exactly the same number of salaries are above and below. In the case of the average value, all values are added, the sum is then divided by the number of values.

Salaries in Germany: A higher level of education promises more money
According to the report, people with an academic degree receive around 58,602 euros (median), non-academics receive around 41,509 euros.
The salary also depends on the professional experience and the place of residence of the people.
The “top city” in
StepStone
’s 2023 salary report is Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg with a total of 54,088 euros.
