Singapore Changi Airport (Jewel Changi Airport)
Changi Airport (Changi) in Singapore gets to head the list of the best airports in the world, in the annual competition 2023 World Airport Awards of the company Skytrax, which specializes in market research in the aviation industry.
This prestigious competition, held this year in Amsterdam, is also known as the "Oscar competition of the aviation industry".
The Singapore airport - which has been in first place 11 times in previous years - is known, among other things, for its spectacular complex where a covered waterfall is 40 meters high.
This complex, where a kind of tropical forest is planted, also has an Israeli connection: it was designed by the Israeli-American-Canadian architect Moshe Safdia.
The Daily Mail reports that beyond Changi's winning first place, it also took the top spots in the categories of the airport with the best food in the world and the best leisure facilities in the world.
On the other hand, Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, which was in first place in 2021 and 2022, drops in the current ranking to second place.
However, it won three top awards: the shopping category, the best airport in the Middle East and the cleanest airport in the Middle East.
In third place is Tokyo Haneda Airport in Japan.
It also stands at the top of the category of cleanest airports in the world as well as the first prize in the subject of accessibility.

Upheaval in New York: from worst to best
New York's LaGuardia Airport received much praise, where Terminal B received the title of "the best new terminal in the world".
"Our goal was to completely transform the customer experience at LaGuardia by building a brand new world-class airport," said Rick Cotton, CEO of the United States Airports Authority. "Winning this prestigious award and becoming the first terminal in North America to receive a 5 Stars from Skytrax proves that we have achieved what many once said would be impossible: elevating La Guardia from worst to best."
Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport, ranked fifth in the world, was named the best airport in Europe, with Munich Airport winning the service award.
Istanbul Airport won the award for the most family-friendly airport, as well as the best airport in Southern Europe.
This year there was also an innovation to the global competition, in the form of an airport art category.
The winner in this category is Houston Airport System, which operates two airports in Houston in the United States.
