INTERVIEW – The CEO of Médiamétrie defends the current system, which is destined to evolve towards a global measurement of audio.


Since September, Médiamétrie has started to deploy automated radio audience measurement.

Yannick Carriou, CEO of Médiamétrie, talks about this development which is shaking up the market.

- If you listen to the counter conversations, you will be told that the radio is dead!

Without denying the reality of a downward trend in consumption and the aging of listeners, we must avoid falling into stereotypes.

Today, 70% of French people still turn on their radio every day.

And they spend three times more time there than on a music streaming service.

Live radio still accounts for 53% of all audio listening, which includes streaming but also records, CDs, etc. If you add station podcasts, the medium weighs 57% of listening volume, compared to 20% for music streaming players.
