announced on March 20, 2003 the beginning of the invasion of Iraq by the coalition led by the United States.

The press is prepared.

For many months, the Americans, engaged in a war against terrorism, have been trying to rally Westerners against Saddam Hussein accused of possessing weapons of mass destruction.

The day before, President George W. Bush announced the launch of the offensive.

Operation "Iraqi Freedom"

On February 5, the American Secretary of State, Colin Powell, brandished before the UN documents and videos supposed to attest to the presence of biochemical weapons.

On February 14, through the voice of its Minister for Foreign Affairs, France had reaffirmed its opposition to an armed conflict.
