(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MARCH 20 - The goal now is to "quickly" give Ukraine the ammunition it needs to continue to defend itself, without entering into a battle of "skills and ego".

This was stated by the high representative of EU foreign policy arriving at the Foreign Affairs-Defence council.

"I hope that the agreement will be finalized in the afternoon because otherwise there will be difficulties in continuing to give arms to Ukraine", he said.

Borrell then specified that he sees no problems in Germany's intention to be the lead partner for a consortium of states on ammunition donation.

"If Germany has a way to deliver ammunition quickly and cheaply, great."
