Beaten 2-1 at Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich lost the lead in the German championship to Borussia Dortmund, who yesterday largely defeated Cologne (6-1).
With 52 points, Bayern are now -1 from Dortmund and the two teams will meet on Saturday 1 April at the Allianz Arena in Munich for the Klassiker of the German championship, which promises to be decisive for the assignment of the title.
With two penalties from fouls by Benjamin Pavard (55') and Dayot Upamecano (73'), converted by Argentinian Exequiel Palacios, Bayern suffered their third defeat of the season after setbacks in Augsburg in mid-September (1-0 ) and in Mönchengladbach (3-2) in mid-February.
The two penalties awarded to Leverkusen were caused by Amine Adli.
