(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MARCH 20 - The European Union is ready to grant "this week" a new tranche of "1.5 billion euro" aid to Kiev as part of the macro-financial assistance package for 2023 agreed in December.
This was announced by the vice president of the EU Commission Valdis Dombrovskis in a hearing in the European Parliament.
A first tranche of 3 billion euros was paid in January.
Among the member countries there is "strong consensus on the need to continue to support Ukraine also through macro-financial assistance", underlined Dombrovskis, recalling that the aid disbursed last year in Kiev amounted to 7.5 billion.
