France: the motion of no confidence in the government does not pass

The premier denounces 'anti-parliamentarism and violence'. (HANDLE)

He did not collect the 287 votes needed to bring down the French government's "transpartisan" no-confidence motion of the independent

party , voted by all the opposition to the Borne government after the pension reform.

9 votes were missing due to the no-confidence vote which was voted by 278 MPs.

"Songs, shouts, invectives, banging on the benches: this is the spectacle to which certain deputies indulged last Thursday. It was not an isolated fact, but the paroxysm of entire weeks in which we saw anti-parliamentarianism in all its manifestations" :

with these words, while most of the opposition deputies abandoned their benches and left the hall in protest, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne began her speech at the end of the session of the Assemblée Nationale

for the presentation of two motions of censure to the government.

"Speech after speech - continued Borne - I found that there really are no limits to duplicity. They are the same ones who have done everything to limit the debate who are now coming to reproach us for having limited the debate. These behaviors are serious".

The speech by Elisabeth Borne, who has convened the ministers for tonight, is the last one before the vote on the two motions of censure.

With the intervention of the French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, the session for the examination in the Assemblée Nationale of the two motions of no confidence in the government, the "transnpartisan" one by the independent centrist group Liot and that by Marine Le Pen's Rassemblement National, ended.

The president of the Assembly, Yael Braun-Pivet, invited the deputies to vote, making an appointment for the results within 30 minutes.

The quota of deputies needed to bring down the government is 287.
