Tech giant Huawei has replaced thousands of its once US-sourced components with Chinese-made versions, according to a transcript of a speech by its founder released by a Shanghai university.
Former US President Donald Trump's administration has banned US companies from doing business with Huawei.
His successor Joe Biden has tightened the sanctions, in particular by banning the sale of the new products of the Chinese brand on American territory.
The company had to find new sourcing channels for semiconductors, essential components for the operation of smartphones and other electronic devices.
Its founder Ren Zhengfei said Huawei replaced more than 13,000 parts with Chinese versions over the past three years, according to Jiao Tong University.
The company has also developed more than 4,000 circuit boards for its products, Ren added.
