When properly socialized, dogs and cats can form a great friendship.

Only the cat Olive would have preferred to remain an individual animal – did the family really have to have dogs of all things?

Oh, how beautiful life was before your siblings - does this thought sound familiar to you?

Numerous older brothers and sisters for sure.

First you look forward to the addition to the family, and then at first they do nothing but sleep, cry and eat and then years go by before you can really start something together.

This thought, more or less formulated, also seems to exist among pets.

At least when you look into the annoyed eyes of cat Olive, for example when her dog brother Widget simply lies down on her.

In a video compilation, Carly Thomas, Olive's mistress and Widget, uploaded the ordeal of Olives - and the

viewers celebrate the clip.

"Why necessarily with a tail?" - Cat constantly annoyed by the new dog brother

It all started so idyllically: Cat Olive lived with her owner Carly in a cozy togetherness in Kitchener, Canada.

But then Carly got a dog - and the quiet life came to an end.

At least for Olive.

Because Widget, a two-year-old Miniature American Shepherd, has eaten a fool's velvet paw and can hardly leave her alone.

Like a younger brother, he wants attention from Olive - and they really only sleep.

viewers then see Widget repeatedly nudge the cat, lie on top of it and wag his tail in its face.

The video itself says things like "I liked being an only child", "Why didn't they just want another cat?", or "Why did they get one with a tail?" - with a cat look that couldn't be more annoyed .

From time to time, cats can take things into their own hands, such as supper, or rather: paws.

"It's kind of a love-hate relationship" - Widget and Olive also like each other from time to time

Carly Thomas told Newsweek that the two have a kind of love-hate relationship: "A lot of people think Olive and Widget will never get along because of the videos.

But you can often see them curled up on the couch together, snoozing in the sun.” When she brought Widget into the small family when she was about eight weeks old, Carly continues, Olive wasn't thrilled at first.

But that quickly changed and sometimes they deliberately play catch with each other.

"But Olive sometimes behaves like the older sister who is annoyed by her younger brother."

It's true that cats can be friends with dogs.

But in the meantime, cat Olive is more than just a little annoyed by his dog brother.

We hear again and again that dogs and cats don't like each other.

In many cases, however, this is simply not true.

If the two animal species are carefully accustomed to each other, a close bond can develop, which can be positive for both sides.

Within a very short time, Carly's clip collected thousands of likes, was diligently shared and commented on.

Some viewers find the dog's constant nudging - and the cat's reaction - very surprising: "Big ears, but she doesn't hit the dog or run away.

Does she maybe even like it?” Another user talks about an “incredibly patient cat” or that Olive is “just very tolerant of everything”.
