At least 12 people were killed in Afghanistan and Pakistan by the 6.5 earthquake registered yesterday afternoon and which initially seemed to have saved lives despite the strength of the shock.
The United States Geological Survey said the quake had its epicenter near Jurm in northeastern Afghanistan at a depth of 187 kilometers.
The earthquake, recorded yesterday around 21:30 Kabul time (18 in Italy) and lasted more than 30 seconds.
It was felt from Central Asia as far as New Delhi in India, more than 2,000km away.
