Many have already received 300 euros as an energy allowance from a part-time job last year.
There is now an energy flat rate of 200 euros for students and technical students.
While millions of workers received their energy allowance last year, since mid-March 2023 it has finally been the turn of students and technical students.
Around 3.5 million students and technical students are entitled to the energy allowance of 200 euros.
Under one important condition: the students must have been enrolled on the cut-off date of December 1, 2022.
This also applies to (vocational) technical students who must have been registered at the respective training center by December 1st of the previous year.
Residence and training center must be in Germany, as reported by the German Press Agency.
If you stay in another country for a short time, for example for a semester abroad or an internship, you are still entitled to the 200 euros.

Can students who, for example, already received 300 euros as an energy allowance last year from a part-time job, still apply for the 200 euros?
The answer of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research is clear, according to the official FAQ on the one-off payment: "Students who are employed and have received the energy allowance of 300 euros for employed persons can also receive the one-off payment of 200 euros .
To do this, you must have been enrolled at a university in Germany on December 1, 2022.” The energy price flat rate of 200 euros for students and technical students should neither be taxed nor offset against any social benefits.
