Lucy Salani, the only trans survivor of the concentration camps, has died

Lucy Salani, an activist known as the only Italian transsexual who survived the Nazi concentration camps, has died at the age of almost 99.

The founder of the Sentinellis and Lombard regional councilor Luca Paladini gives the news.

Born as Luciano Salani in Fossano, in 1924, she had grown up in Bologna as a homosexual man.

She is an anti-fascist, after having deserted both the Italian and the Nazi fascist armies, she was deported to Dachau in 1944.
