Tandil celebrates 200 years: calendar of festivities and special production of cheeses and honey

This April 4th, the celebrations officially begin for the

The "Tandil Bicentennial Honey" contest is a contest that values ​​the local beekeeping activity, which has grown a lot in quality and flavor.

Created by the Cambio Rural group and the "Fraccionadores de Miel de Tandil", the contest is supported by the Municipality.

It will have a maximum capacity of 20 participants and online pre-registration is now open until March 26.

In addition, with the municipal contribution and the work of UNICEN researchers, the aim is to produce a book that compiles stories and experiences about beekeeping in the region, which has more than 100 years of work.

A cheese to celebrate

Since April 2022, various companies from the Tandil Cheese Cluster have set out to mature high-quality cheeses, which will go on sale for the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the founding of Tandil.

In this way, the

will have a limited batch with 12 months of storage -twice the maturation time than the conventional one-, aiming at a demanding public that will be able to choose between varieties such as Reggianito, Sardo, Grana Tandilero, Parmesan and Roman, among others.

These types of products are made with top quality raw materials from dairy farms in the Mar y Sierras basin and, with this maturation, they achieve a more intense aroma, a unique texture and a well-defined spicy flavor.

This batch of products will be available from April 4 at various points of sale in the city and the region, in some cases reaching customers nationwide.

In addition to its favorable agronomic conditions, Tandil has temperatures and humidity that are ideal for the ripening process of cheeses, which were essential in times when there was not much technology.
