On YouTube, the channel Gewitter im Kopf suddenly went through the roof.

Less than 3 years later, the Tourette YouTubers crashed.

That happened.

Cologne – Not so long ago, the two YouTubers Tim and Jan dominated the German YouTube scene with their channel Gewitter in the head.

Wherever you looked, the two got a platform and could present themselves and their content.

The initial euphoria about her finding out about Tourette's syndrome dissipated after just two years.

One can even go so far as to speak of a crash.

What happened?

Tourette YouTuber takes YouTube Germany by storm – hits 1 million subscriptions in one year

This is how thunderstorms rose in the head:

At the beginning of 2019, Tim Lehmann and Jan Zimmermann founded the YouTube channel "Thunderstorms in the head - life with Tourette".

Zimmermann suffers from Tourette's syndrome and, according to their own statements, the two wanted to explain the disease at the time.

Within the first year, the two cracked a million subscribers on their channel.

What is Tourette?

Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome, commonly known as Tourette Syndrome, is a neuropsychiatric disorder.

It is characterized by motor and vocal tics, i.e. uncontrolled movements and noises or calls.

Depending on the severity, these tics can appear differently.

The meteoric rise was accompanied by a lot of media attention.

All German influencers - including MontanaBlack - offered a platform for thunderstorms in their heads, as well as in some television formats.

Accordingly, Jan and Tim continued to collect subscriptions.

Tourette YouTuber inspires German fans – quickly crashes again

That's why thunderstorms in the head crashed again:

The comet-like rise was quickly slowed down.

At the beginning of 2021, the Tourette YouTubers attracted attention with a promotional campaign that annoyed fans.

Lehmann and Zimmermann allegedly used the death of Lehmann's grandfather to advertise a music video in which the grandson had processed his loss.

The action caused a lot of head shaking in YouTube Germany.

Several major influencers turned away from thunderstorms in their heads and fans also fled.

RealBazzi, which has started with casino streams, is currently doing a similar thing.

After the promo scandal, the number of viewers fell sharply during a thunderstorm.

According to socialblade, the monthly number of clicks fell from almost 22 million to around 6 million in February 2021 in mid-2020. In March, the clicks rose again to around 8 million, probably due to the promotion, before finally collapsing completely.

After rise and fall – what is a thunderstorm doing in your head now?

Jan and Tim are still making content:

Jan and Tim's account now doesn't even collect a million clicks a month.

The reason for this could also be a three-month break in 2023.

The amount of videos of the two has decreased as well as their popularity.

The last video, which racked up more than 200,000 views, was about Zimmerman undergoing brain surgery to treat his Tourette.

The surgery is now complete and went well.

The tics of the Tourette YouTuber then decreased significantly.

Nevertheless, the two continue to produce videos in which they practice and show different jobs for one day.

For example, they accompanied a crime scene cleaner, practiced as a nurse or worked as a hotel manager.

In addition, the two have now opened a new channel, which is only called "Thunderstorms in the head".

There they post small challenges or Q&A videos together, just like in the early days.

Here, too, there has been no great success compared to previous videos.

Unlike the newcomer Lets Hugo, who set a viewership record on Twitch.
