La Sapienza University is confirmed as the first in the world in Classical Studies and Ancient History for the third consecutive year: in fact it obtains the score of 98.7 and is first in Italy in two thematic areas: "Arts and Humanities" and "Natural Sciences" , respectively at 41st and 44th place in the world.
The University also boasts 14 national records in Ancient and Classical History, Archaeology, Art History, Physics and Astronomy, Library and Information Management, Psychology and more.
New in the 2023 ranking is the entry to History of Art.
This is what emerges from the 2023 edition of the QS World University Rankings report.
The report analyzes 54 subjects grouped into 5 broad subject areas.
Sapienza ranked in all 5 areas and in 43 subjects, achieving an overall excellent performance worldwide, ranking among the top 50 universities in the world in 7 subjects and among the top 100 in the world in 21 subjects.
"For the third consecutive time - says the rector Antonella Polimeni - the classical studies of Sapienza have reached the highest podium in the international ranking QS World University Rankings by Subject. The ranking rewards the humanities of our University, among which the first place in Italy for Archaeology, History, Library & Information Management and History of Art, subjects introduced for the first time this year Sapienza is among the top 50 universities in the world in subjects including Physics-Astronomy and Law, and is at the first place in Italy in just as many disciplines, such as Psychology, Statistics and Nursing. A result that places us among the best universities in the world".
The classification by subjects elaborated by QS takes into consideration the following parameters: the academic reputation and that among companies based on the opinion of recruiters all over the world, the citations per paper, the use of the "H-Index" on prolificacy and the impact of publications and the International Research Network, percentage of publications.
This year QS Subject 2023 analyzed: 16.4 million unique articles published between 2016-2020, 117.8 million citations in 2016-2021, 1594 institutions classified in 54 subjects grouped into 5 broad subject areas.
