The blue pair of artists formed by Sara Conti and Niccolò Macii won the bronze medal at the end of the free program at the Figure Skating World Championships in Saitama.
The two blues had closed the short program in third position, thus advancing a concrete candidacy for the medals, and continued their
journey in the best possible way, surpassing themselves in the free program.
Italy is back on the World Cup podium after nine years.
We have to go back to the 2014 edition, also held in Saitama, to find blue medals.
At the time, the dance couple Anna Cappellini/Luca Lanotte won gold and Carolina Kostner won bronze in the women's field.
But Conti-Macii have become the first artistic couple to
get on the world podium.
The previous twelve medals had come from the women's sector (7), the men's sector (1) and dance (4).
