Orange and yellow alerts for storms in eleven provinces: they could fall up to 90 mm. in a few hours

orange storm alerts

this morning for sectors of Córdoba, La Rioja and San Luis, and a

yellow

warning for eight other provinces.

According to the agency's report, the orange alert affects towns in the

east of Córdoba, the south of La Rioja and the northeast of San Luis , where accumulated precipitation values ​​between

60 and 90 millimeters

are expected

For the affected areas, storms are forecast, some locally strong, accompanied by

gusts, occasional hail, strong electrical activity

and abundant rainfall in short periods.

Meanwhile, a yellow alert is in effect for storms in the

center and north of Entre Ríos and Santa Fe

, including their capital cities, Paraná and the city of Santa Fe;

in towns in the

north and east of Córdoba;

north of St. Louis;

north and east of San Juan, and a large part of the territory of La Rioja and Catamarca

.

The same warning also affects the province of

Tucumán;

to the west and north of Santiago del Estero;

the center and north of Salta and the south of Jujuy

, including the capital cities of the four provinces.

The area will be affected by isolated rains and storms, some locally strong, with estimated accumulated precipitation values ​​between

20 and 45 millimeters

In addition, he added that these phenomena could have as their main associated risk the abundant fall of water in short periods, and localized hail fall and/or strong gusts.

For the population of these areas, the national body recommended not taking out the garbage;

avoid outdoor activities;

do not take shelter near trees and electricity poles that may fall;

not stay on beaches, rivers, lagoons or pools to avoid being struck by lightning;

and pay attention to the possible fall of hail.

Likewise, for the towns under orange alert, the SMN told the population to remain in closed buildings;

stay away from electrical appliances;

avoid driving on flooded or affected streets and, in the event of a risk of water entering the home, it recommended cutting off the electricity supply.
