"Italy is always in our hearts" but "right now, politically and in terms of security, it is among the countries at the forefront in wanting to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia", and "this is regrettable".

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Serghei Ryabkov

said so in an interview with ANSA

.

"For centuries - added the deputy minister - Italy has had extraordinary relations with our country in all fields. There have been ups and downs, and wars. But Rome was among the very few who had a profound understanding of their respective positions and how much these relationships enriched us mutually".

Russia continues its military operation in Ukraine also to ensure full control of the territories of the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, annexed last September by the Russian Federation, Ryabkov said.

“The territories that have become an integral part of Russia cannot be reconsidered differently,” Ryabkov said.
