The cauliflower steak recipe that caused a lot of outrage online: "It has nothing to do with steak" - voila! Food

A food lover made cauliflower in a unique way and shared the recipe on TikTok. Instead of referring to the recipe her viewers got really upset that she used the word steak to describe what she made

This is how to prepare the cauliflower steak (@cookingwithayeh)

This is not the first time that carnivores are angry when vegans or vegetarians use names taken from the meat cuisine to describe plant foods.

A food lover on TikTok managed to really annoy her viewers this time, when she made spiced cauliflower in the oven, called it "cauliflower steak" and compared it to the real thing.

Aya Manfra, who posts as @cookingwithayeh on TikTok, shared the recipe for the dish in a short video that garnered 2 million views.

She usually posts videos of vegetarian and vegan dishes she makes, but this time when she called a dish she made "cauliflower steak", she apparently crossed a line she shouldn't have crossed.

In the video, Manfra showed how she slices cauliflower into thin pieces and coats them with spices.

"I like to eat steak and I haven't eaten meat in years," she explained at the beginning of the video, "these are cauliflower steaks, with such a good mix of spices that the cauliflower caramelizes when you grill it."

After Menfer brushed the "steak" with her seasoning mixture - which consisted of olive oil, paprika, cumin, garlic, chili and salt - she instructed the viewers to put it in a frying pan without oil or in the oven until the fake meat became "golden and tender".

In the caption next to the video, she added: "These cauliflower steaks are going to become your new favorite way to eat cauliflower!".

Watch her recipe:

@cookingwithayeh These Cauliflower Steaks are going to be your new favorite way to eat Cauliflower!

They're coated in a yummy spice rub that is so yummy, golden and caramelized when roasted ???

You can make them in the oven or air fryer, both turn out great!

As we mentioned, not everyone agreed with her.

"If you don't like steak... and you haven't eaten it in years... you don't like steak, lady," responded one viewer and another added: "It's caramelized cauliflower, not steak. Thank me later."

Another viewer wrote: "I think it looks really nice, but if I was promised a steak and I got it, would I call the police?"

Another viewer added: "Why don't you eat cardboard and call it steak?".

There were also some who defended her, including the animal rights group PETA's TikTok account.

They liked the recipe and wrote: "We love cauliflower steaks that save animals."

Another added: "True, it doesn't taste like steak, but when you season the cauliflower properly, it turns out really tasty."
