After a three-year hiatus, El Al is renewing the direct flights to India, to two destinations: Mumbai and New Delhi, starting at the end of October 2023. The
launch of the new routes is now possible following the recently received approval to fly over the skies of Saudi Arabia and Oman for the Israeli airlines.
This approval enables the shortening of the flight to Mumbai to only 5.5 hours, instead of the original 7.45 hours.
El Al will operate four direct weekly flights to Mumbai, using a 737 aircraft that includes two service classes - tourist and business, and two direct weekly flights to New Delhi, using a 787 or 777 wide-body aircraft.

El Al will be the only airline at the moment (Arkia intends to fly to India as well, but possibly to Goa) that will offer direct flights to both destinations and also, flights to dozens of onward destinations in India, in cooperation with local airlines.
Ticket sales will begin in April 2023 at a price starting at $399 for a Lite ticket (not including boarding and baggage).
According to Shlomi Zafarani, El Al's VP of Commercial and Transport Relations: "We are excited to launch the new destinations in India, which is possible following the approval to fly over the skies of Oman.
We anticipate high demand for flights, there is extensive business activity between the countries and also a constant increase in tourism from India to Israel.
This is a favorite holiday destination for Israelis, whether it is among backpackers, family trips or organized trips.
We continue to work for the expansion of additional destinations in the East and other popular destinations."
