Creed III
retains its box office title.
Three weeks after its release in France, the boxing film still dominates the box office ring, with 385,000 entries made this week, according to figures released Wednesday by CBO Box Office.
After winning everything in the ring and taking on the challenge of Draco's son in
Creed II
, Adonis (Michael B. Jordan) has nothing left to prove.
But that's not counting the return of Damian, his childhood friend and boxing prodigy too.
Just released from prison, the latter is ready to do anything to get back into the ring and regain his rights.
"The ninth film in the
Rocky franchise
is turning the page
," says Étienne Sorin, journalist at Le
Figaro
.
Warner France preferred to play nostalgia, even if it meant curling up with false advertising by attracting customers with "Rocky Balboa's next generation", a
subtle variation of the first
Creed
("Rocky Balboa's legacy")”
.

The third installment in the
Creed series,
the first without Sylvester Stallone, totaled nearly two million admissions.
It is closely followed by another big Hollywood production,
Scream VI
, the latest installment in the cult horror film saga, which continues to terrorize spectators (372,000 admissions for its second week).
Fifth place goes to
The Chamber of Wonders
, by director Lisa Azuelos, which attracted nearly 300,000 onlookers for its first week.
Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Empire
, one of the biggest budgets in the history of French cinema, was driven out of the top 10.
