(ANSA) - BARI, MARCH 24 - Fiorella Mannoia will be the teacher of the 26th edition of the concert of 'La Notte della Taranta', on August 26 in Melpignano (Lecce), after last year's success with around 200,000 admissions.
The announcement will be made in the morning in a press conference which will be attended, among others, by the president of the Puglia Region Michele Emiliano;
and the president of the Nottedella Taranta foundation Massimo Manera.
Mannoia will have the task of "combining the past with the future through the gaze of women", according to what will be the leitmotif of this edition of the festival dedicated to popular culture, starting from the musical tradition of Salento.
Fiorella Mannoia has already participated in the Notte della Taranta as a special guest in 2016 and is the fourth woman, after Carmen Consoli, Andrea Mirò and Madame, to direct the great live event.
In the 2023 edition, the thematic research of the concert will be focused on the words of popular texts, enhancing the poetics of the verses through the interpretation of the concert teacher who will dialogue with the 21 members of the Popular Orchestra and the Italian and international guests.
"A female narrative - explain the organizers - to retrace the stages of the journey of emancipation that women have made from tarantism to today, passing from union demands on the subject of work to rebellion against a destiny imposed by others".
