Pay-TV provider Sky has switched off its SD channels – with possible frequency changes for HD channels.
Subscribers with third-party Sky receivers may need to take action.
Munich – Sky Germany shut down some of its pay-TV channels on Wednesday (March 22).
About 30 TV stations broadcasting in standard digital (SD) were affected.
At the same time, some HD channels were given a new frequency, as reported
by infosat.de
.
If you receive Sky with a third-party device, you may have to reprogram some channels.
Users should then start a manual search so that the reception of the HD channels continues to work smoothly.
HD conversion: transponder search run for Sky third-party receivers
Programs that could previously be received in SD picture quality via Astra transponder 47, frequency 11,171 H, SR 22000, FEC 3/4, DVB-S2 – 8PSK were switched off.
The move to HD affected DTH satellite, cable and IPTV distribution.
When using Sky receivers, nothing needs to be taken into account, since the changeover took place automatically.
The situation is different for third-party receivers with a CI+ module: If channels are missing from the channel list, a transponder search run can be carried out.
There is an explanation in the respective operating instructions for the receiver.

SD shutdown: no new TV offers from Sky planned
A Sky spokesman assured
the British online industry service
Broadbandtvnews that the changeover would take place without additional costs for subscribers.
Ultimately, the reason for the shutdown was the cost.
Because a parallel distribution of SD and HD content via linear channels is expensive.
The focus is now on pure HD distribution.
The savings should ultimately be invested in the technical infrastructure.
"New channels are currently not planned," said the spokesman.
Free capacities are therefore not used for new TV offerings.
Sky Germany recently switched off two other channels.
