The Rencontres d'Arles 2023 in five key exhibitions

The 54th edition of the great photographic festival puts ecology and feminism on the program. Without forgetting, this time, the masters, from Saul Leiter to Wim Wenders, from Agnès Varda to Diane Arbus.

It is with undisguised happiness that the small world of photography met on Friday March 24 in the morning, rue de Valois, to discover the program of the 54th Rencontres d'Arles.

Outside, the streets of the neighborhood are still flooded with garbage cans.

Rue Sainte-Anne is scary, between dirt and burnt rubbish.

But, under the golds of the Republic, the anger of the people is not on the menu of the day.

In the front row on the right, Françoise Nyssen, former Minister of Culture, and her husband, Jean-Paul Capitani, remained of exemplary discretion.

"Arles does not host the Rencontres, the

Rencontres was born in Arles"

... At ease in the speech that charms an audience, Patrick de Carolis, Mayor of Arles, spoke just after the Minister of Culture Rima Abdul Malak, particularly cheerful, as if times were not worrying in politics.
